I just joined the Worldwide Game Of Sprouts Association. It's a great game that I have been playing for years. Here's the first two moves of a game I'm playing with a fellow in France. Gotta love the internet!

Oh this is nice and even nicer you did not put any number!
ReplyDeleteI hope you don't mind me replying using Conway's notation:
17+(Peltier*-RichardsFink):
1(18)1[2-9], 1(19)18[10-13]
10(20)19
Thank you for pointing me to your blog, I promise I'll read it.
17+(Peltier*-RichardsFink):
ReplyDelete1(18)1[2-9], 1(19)18[10-13]
10(20)19, 13(21)20
I take it my graphic is a correct representation of the progress of the game, then!
I'm interested in learning more about the mathematical basis of Sprouts. I've been a bit intimidated to do so as my math skills are far below the level I would like them to be. I think playing using the Conway notation will help. I'll continue to post the graphic, let me know if I screw it up ;)

10(22)10[11,12], 22(23)13
13(24)21, 23(25)24
25 is a survivor, if I've graphed it out properly.

10(20)19, 13(21)20

13(24)21, 23(25)24
14(26)14[15],
yes 25 is a survivor which can be neglected, and we know have 3 separated games which are P (Previous player wins):
- a game of 8 spots,
- a game of 2 spots,
- and a game 1L2 (a Loop with 1 spot on a side and 2 on the other side).
I will try to play last move in each of those games.
Can you please edit typos? :(

Game, as it were, on! ;)
Since we're entering the midgame, I'm starting a new post thread so I can post the picture larger.
